Despite differences in their political and economic systems, relations between Europe and China build upon decades of cooperation. In a world characterized by rapid changes and uncertainty, sustained dialogue and frank exchanges of ideas are as important as ever. In recognition of the need for public discussion and debate, this ISDP Forum brings together diplomats and researchers with a breadth of opinion on the changing security and diplomatic ties between China and Europe.

The forum will feature a speech by H.E. Ambassador Gui Congyou of China, followed by a moderated panel discussion with Dr Jian Zhang of the University of New South Wales Canberra, Ms Katherine Elgin of Princeton University, and Mr Tim Rühlig of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs. There will be time for Q&A with the participants. The forum will be moderated by Niklas Swanström, Executive Director of ISDP.
