India and Pakistan are two nuclear-armed states with a history of both cold and hot wars, of which border skirmishes over the past months have reminded the world. In this ISDP Forum, Dr. Asma Khawaja, Assistant Professor at the National Defence University of Pakistan, will present her new book on this topic: Shaking Hands with Clenched Fists: The Grand Trunk Road to Confidence Building Measures between Pakistan and India.
The presentation will be commented on by Maj Gen (ret) Per Lodin, former Chief Military Observer and Head of Mission of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) during 2016-2018, and moderated by Maj Gen (ret) Mats Engman, Distinguished Military Fellow at ISDP.
After the presentation, there will be room for Q&A with the audience.
