Phil C.W. Chan 陳政偉 Joins ISDP as Senior Fellow

Dr. Phil C.W. Chan has joined ISDP as Senior Fellow. Dr. Chan is a law graduate of the University of Hong Kong, Durham, and the National University of Singapore where he obtained his Ph.D., and has previously served in substantive and visiting positions in Law, International Relations and Asian Studies at universities in Europe, Asia, Australasia, North America and the Middle East. He also had experience with Baker Botts, world’s largest energy law practice. His research expertise encompasses China, the Asia-Pacific region, international law and international relations, public law, human rights and democracy, and global governance. He is author of China, State Sovereignty and International Legal Order (2015), over 30 refereed journal articles, and numerous encyclopaedia, newspaper and online articles. In addition, he was guest editor of two refereed journal special double issues on human rights, both reprinted as books with Forewords by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and has delivered over 70 invited lectures, seminars and conference papers. His research has been cited by international bodies including the United Nations International Law Commission.
