Chinese National Cultural Security in the International Communication Era

Culture is a cornerstone in the process of the formation and development of a country. Culture not only embodies the conventional wisdom and civilization of a country, but is also an important condition for achieving sustainable development in the future. Once the national culture encounters menace, aggression and cultural identity crisis, national cultural security will be in danger. In the Internet communication era, China is facing both challenges and opportunities on this issue.

This seminar will briefly define and outline the specific characteristics of Chinese national cultural security and attempt to define why and how national cultural security is important. Furthermore, this seminar will discuss what contemporary threats to China’s national cultural security exist today and investigate what China is doing to counter such threats. In addition, Captain Lin Han will give her opinion of what more could be done to counter threats to China’s national cultural security.
