Reflections on the RES Cybersecurity Workshop at Jagiellonian University, hosted by the Stockholm Center for Research and Innovation Security (SCRIS)

April 22, 2025: On April 4, the recently founded Stockholm Center for Research and Innovation Security (SCRIS) from ISDP was invited to the Jagiellonian University by the Centre for International Security & Development (CISAD) to host a RES Workshop on Cybersecurity.
The main objective of the workshop is to develop strategies and best practices for mitigating security risks in academia. Three sessions were orchestrated by Niklas Swanström together with Filip Borges Månsson, Yifei Zhu, Maud Descamp, and Yi-Chieh Chen, and the topics covered in the RES workshop included: Cybersecurity threats to academic institutions and scientific research; Challenges in balancing open science with security imperatives; Recruitment risks and intelligence threats in scientific environments; The role of disinformation in research and higher education.
Filip Borges Månsson also had a scenario-based exercise simulating a cybersecurity threat.
