Military Operations Overseas in Peacetime

The Seventh ISDP-AMS Joint Conference

December 9-11, 2014, Hilton Stockholm Slussen

 This conference is made possible through the generous support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden.

This conference aims to bring together specialists on military and security affairs from Europe together with their Chinese counterparts to discuss military operations overseas in peacetime, with a view to sharing experiences and opinions and thinking about possibilities for co-operation in this area in the future. The topics to be discussed include:

• Counter-piracy operations
• Peace-keeping operations
• Non-combatant evacuation operations
• Disaster relief operations

This will be the seventh joint conference to be held by the Institute for Security and Development Policy (Sweden) in conjunction with the PLA Academy of Military Science (China). These joint conferences have been run on an annual basis since 2008 and have alternated between Beijing and Stockholm. Past participants in these conferences have included high-ranking serving members of the armed forces, members of the diplomatic community and leading academics. The proceedings of previous conferences have been published and are available online in the ‘Conference & Workshops Reports’ section of our website. Participation is by invitation only.
