The year 2015 marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sweden. The Chinese Embassy in Sweden and the Institute for Security and Development Policy are honored to invite you to this half-day seminar on the topic of the Belt and Road Initiative; an area where there are countless opportunities for Sino-Swedish exchange and cooperation.

Bringing together Chinese and Swedish experts, this seminar aims to explore the opportunities and challenges associated with the Belt and Road Initiative, as first proposed by the President of China, Xi Jinping in September 2013. The Belt and Road Initiative aims to connect the East Asian economic circle to the continents of Asia, Africa and Europe by building infrastructure, and carrying out trade and investment. This seminar will examine possibilities and challenges for Sweden and China associated with the Belt and Road Initiative, discuss the recent proposal for an Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and give the audience the opportunity to pose questions to our invited experts. What business opportunities can the Initiative bring for Swedish and Chinese companies? How will the Initiative affect the countries along the road? What are the challenges of bringing the Initiative to life?
