ISDP invites you to the screening of the unique Looking China short film program of the Academy for the International Communication of Chinese Culture at Beijing Normal University.
Made by young international film makers in one-on-one collaboration with local Chinese volunteers, Looking China is a program which aims to promote intercultural communication between young international and Chinese filmmakers. The program showcases the contrasting simplicity and glamour, antiquity and fashion of China. The product of these collaborations are 10-minute documentaries which offer a unique insight into culture and life in China today.
The Looking China program has run for five years and has resulted in a cinematic mosaic of Chinese life and culture, some highlights of which will be presented at this screening.
The following Looking China films will be screened during the event:
浓浓侗歌情 Dong Songs Through Generations, directed by Synne Akselberg, Norway
野草莓 WILD STRAWBERRIES, directed by Sini Kononen, Finland
牧马之原 The Horse Land, directed by Dmitry Konoplov, Israel
重拾遗梦 Search for the Manchus, directed by Evan Luchkow, Canada
Looking China is sponsored by the Huilin Foundation and hosted by Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture (AICCC) at Beijing Normal University (BNU). The screening in Stockholm is a unique collaboration with Stockholm University, Uppsala University and the Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP).
