Peace and Stability in the Post-2015 Development Agenda

ASIA FORUM with Ms. Gunilla Carlsson

Member of the High Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda

Wednesday, 26 March, 2014, 10.00-11.30

In 2015 the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will be ending and efforts to formulate the new development agenda are already underway. The High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons’ report on the Post-2015 Development Agenda is one of four parallel efforts undertaken towards a new global agreement. The report proposes continued focus on the most vulnerable with a coherent global development agenda where sustainability is at the core. Twelve illustrative goals are provided in the report. Those include goals building upon the previous MDGs, together with new added areas, such as ensuring stable and peaceful societies. This presentation will provide insights on the Post-2015 Development Agenda specifically focusing on the inclusion of peace and stability.

Ms. Gunilla Carlsson is a member of the High Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. Ms. Carlsson has previously held the post of Minister for International Development Cooperation and held a number of senior posts in the Swedish Parliament, primarily in the areas of foreign affairs, EU affairs and education. She is a former member of the European Parliament.
