Political and Economic Reforms in Kazakhstan under President Tokayev
Since being elected in 2019, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has launched a series of packages of political and economic reform. While many of these build on earlier reform efforts, a novel aspect is the greater emphasis on reforms to the country’s political system. At this webinar, ISDP presents a new Silk Road Paper on the subject. The study seeks to inquire into the background of these reform initiatives, and how far and how fast they are likely to develop. The study’s author, Svante Cornell, is joined by expert commentators that add their perspective on the subject.
Speakers:
Svante E. Cornell Director, Institute for Security and Development Policy
