February 3, 2025: Anna Wieslander, Chair of the ISDP Board, participated in the Advanced Research Workshop titled Facilitating Ukraine’s Transition to NATO Standards: Military, Doctrinal, and Legal Aspects, organized by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation, in cooperation with the International Centre for Ukrainian Victory and the IAI, Istituto Affari Internazionali.
Anna Wieslander shared these key points from the workshop:
Invitation to NATO: Ukraine belongs to Europe and should be part of our security structures, that is, the EU and NATO, asap!
Credibility: In discussing how to counter disinformation from Russia against Ukraine joining NATO, I underlined that credible commitment from the West is the most important measure. An invitation to join NATO would send a clear signal of such a commitment.
It will prevent disunity, discouragement and demoralization in Ukraine that only would serve Russia’s interests.
