Anna Wieslander spoke at the EPP Group Study Day in Naples
September 26, 2024: Anna Wieslander, Chair of the ISDP Board, spoke at the European People’s Party (EPP) Group Study Day in Naples this week.
She argued against two widespread beliefs on Russia that can have devastating effects on European security.
“First, there is a widespread but mistaken belief that Russia’s war on Ukraine is a local issue, but in reality, Russia poses a broader systemic threat to the international order, not just a regional one.”
“Secondly, the belief that inaction or a wait-and-see approach toward Russia promotes peace is misguided, as it only encourages aggressive behaviour and undermines security.”
