Infrastructure Diplomacy in the Indo-Pacific: Jagannath Panda participated in event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain, and the Spain-India Council Foundation

February 19, 2024: Dr. Jagannath Panda, Head of the Stockholm Center for South Asian and Indo-Pacific Affairs, participated in a panel discussion on GEOPOLITICS OF CONNECTIVITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE DIPLOMACY IN THE INDO-PACIFIC: A VIEW FROM INDIA, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain, and the Spain-India Council Foundation in Madrid. Dr. Harsh Pant, Vice-President of the ORF, also participated in the panel.

This event covered discussions on connectivity and Infrastructure cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, covering how India-Spain and India-EU cooperation can be strengthened. Emilio de Miguel, Ambassador-at-large for the Indo-Pacific, Spanish MFA, attended the event and moderated the discussions, and Mr. Juan Ignacio Entrecanales, President, Spain-India Council Foundation & Vice-President, Acciona, delivered a welcome speech at the event. Amb. Ramón Moreno, Secretary General of the Spain-India Council Foundation, delivered a concluding remark at the event.

Dr. Panda also participated in the Indian Foreign Policy seminar organized by the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, in Madrid in cooperation with the Embassy of India in Spain. Dr. Mario Lopez Areu was the main organizer of this seminar. H.E. Ambassador Dinesh Kumar Patnaik delivered the keynote speech at the event while Prof. Enrique Sanz Giménez-Rico, Rector Magnificus, Universidad Pontificia Comillas, graced the occasion. Prof. Susanne M. Cadera, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Comillas CIHS, Prof. Emilio Sáenz-Francés, Director, International Relations Department, Comillas CIHS, also attended the event. This event covered discussions on a range of topics, including India-Spain, India-EU, and India’s Rise in Global Affairs. Students and faculties of the University attended the event.
