Mr. Johan Klaas Krom Joins ISDP as Junior Research Fellow

Mr. Johan Klaas Krom has joined ISDP as a Junior Research Fellow. Mr. Krom will work at the intersection of ISDP’s Myanmar, Chinese and Korean Peninsular affairs. He holds a MSc. in Global Studies (Lund University, Sweden) and wrote his master thesis on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as means of transnational governance in contemporary Myanmar (grade ‘A’). He holds a BSc. in Human Geography and Urban and Regional Planning (University of Groningen, the Netherlands) in addition to extensive coursework at amongst others the National University of Singapore.

Before coming to ISDP, Mr. Krom was stationed at the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ embassy in Bangkok. In this position he was closely involved with bilateral and multilateral responses to Thailand’s political turmoil over the spring of 2014, ASEAN integration, and international engagement with Myanmar. His research interests include geopolitics, state transformation and transnational governance, with a geographical focus on Myanmar, Thailand and interdependencies in the wider Asia-Pacific region.
