Niklas Swanström spoke to SVT about about the meeting between Kim and Putin

September 13, 2023: Niklas Swanström, ISDP’s Executive Director, spoke to SVT Morgonstudion about the meeting between Kim and Putin.

Russia needs artillery and missile weapons to continue its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, North Korea is believed to want technology, especially submarine technology, robot technology, and satellite technology, according to Niklas Swanström.

“This will be a pretty good negotiating situation for North Korea,” he says in Morgonstudion.

“They probably have tens of millions of artillery shells, but we don’t know what condition they are in. Nor do we know how much North Korea is willing to send to Russia for their war of aggression in Ukraine. North Korea also has its own military conflict; it is de facto at war with the US and South Korea. It’s just an armistice,” says Niklas Swanström.
