Niklas Swanström spoke to Swedish Radio about North Korea’s decision to cut communication lines with South Korea

June 9, 2020: ISDP’s Executive Director Niklas Swanström spoke to Sveriges Radios P1-Morgon (Swedish) about the recent news that North Korea has decided to cut communication channels with South Korea.

“Den interna orsaken är att Covid-19 har påverkat Nordkoreas ekonomi, och att man då behöver en extern fiende. Sydkorea är en alldeles lämplig sådan. Man vill inte stöta sig för mycket med USA då man vill behålla möjligheterna för dialog, och man tror sig veta att Sydkorea kommer tillbaka oavsett vad man gör.”
