September 5, 2023: Niklas Swanström, ISDP’s Executive Director, was quoted in Dagens Nyheter on the information that Putin and Kim are planning to meet in September.
The information about the meeting is not surprising, said Niklas Swanström. These are two isolated states that do not have an abundance of options when it comes to doing business with the outside world.
“They are not in a situation where they can choose their friends. They have to take what is available. For Russia, it is a sign of desperation. Why not go to China, which can supply better weapons? Probably because they are not so successful there,” explained Niklas Swanström.
