Protecting Institutions from Authoritarian Influence: ISDP co-organized a seminar with Frivärld and the U.S. Embassy Sweden

October 8, 2024: In collaboration with the Stockholm Free World Forum (Frivärld) and the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm, ISDP organized a breakfast seminar on “Building Democratic Resilience: Protecting Institutions from Authoritarian Influence” on October 3rd, 2024.

Over the last decade, foreign influence on strategic industries, sectors, and critical infrastructures in the EU has grown exponentially. The international research community is an area where the conflicting values of academic freedom and national security interests are demonstrably difficult to balance.

The discussion explored security issues within research, academia, politics, and business, emphasizing Chinese influence.
