Anna Hayes is a Senior Lecturer Politics and International Relations at the James Cook University Cairns and an Honorary Research Fellow at the East Asia Security Centre at the Bond University, specializing in non-traditional security threats, particularly related to China. Her research focuses on the human insecurity of Uyghurs in Xinjiang and China’s Belt and Road Initiative. She also examines Australia’s Indo-Pacific strategy, including its responses to China’s actions in the South China Sea and sharp power strategies.
