Ms. Serena Sorrenti is interning with the Asia Program at ISDP since September 2016.

She obtained a B.A. in Language, Culture and Society of China from Universtà Ca’ Foscari of Venice, Italy and a M.Sc. in Asian Studies from Lund University, Sweden. During her master’s studies, Serena specialized on South Asia focusing particularly on Afghanistan and on security issues in the AfPak region. Within the ambit of her master’s thesis, she researched on forced migration and its gender dimension in the context of Afghanistan. In order to collect data for her empirical research, she did her fieldwork in India where she interviewed Afghan refugees and gained a better understanding of the socio-political background.
